The Clarification on Compliance Recording for Microsoft Teams

IXCloud Records, Stores and Analyzes Interactions Without Physical or Virtual Servers

There have been articles making the rounds from various news sources regarding updates about Microsoft releasing compliance recording for Teams.

With a bit of help from my friends at Microsoft, this is the story. Microsoft is NOT releasing its own Compliance Recording solution for Microsoft Teams in the M/O365 E3 and E5 or Business Premium SKUs. However, these licenses will be required to enable the existing Compliance Recording solution for Microsoft Teams offered by 3rd party vendors. This requirement is the elegant solution to the Advanced Communication License, which is no longer required to enable Compliance Recording.

Compliance Recording for Microsoft Teams is configured by a Teams policy granted to a User or Security Group. All users assigned the policy will have a bot join their calls, and it will ‘invisibly’ record them. Depending on the 3rd party vendor’s architecture, calls will be processed and archived, and made available to assist companies in achieving compliance.
